NUTRITIONAL THERAPY
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
XSMENA is the name given to the wise old medical women in rural Brazil. I learned this when one of my first patients in Ireland asked me about the name. I told her I needed a name and wasn’t making progress so before retiring to bed I simply asked for a name. The next morning I woke up with xsbena which didn’t sound right and changed it to Xsmena which felt right. I searched online for meaning and only found definition for mena and then a polish definition of a warrior princess. When she told me about the name from where she comes I understood that this is something I have done before.
XSMENA is a Nutrition and Colonic Irrigation Clinic. Originally founded in Dublin, Ireland in early 2005, I have now relocated to Napa, CA. As a Nutritional Therapist with three years of intensive training in food, biochemistry and pathology I understand the systems of the body and the interworking of those systems to create a whole. Modern medicine looks at disease, mostly in isolation. As a Nutritional Therapist I look at prevention, natural modulation of imbalances, diet and lifestyle as a means to improving and maintaining ones health and the interconnectedness between body systems as an imbalance in one affects all the others. I am trained in Aura-Soma and Reiki and work with the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual realms of our body to help you achieve a healthy, happy, functioning whole self.
FAQ's
What is Nutritional Therapy?
Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutritional science in the promotion of optimum health and peak performance and disease prevention. Nutritional therapy encompasses the use of carefully compiled recommendations for diet and lifestyle in order to alleviate or prevent ailments and promote optimal health.
These recommendations are carefully tailored to consider each client’s individual requirements and may include guidance on:
- Promoting general health
- Methods to support digestion and absorption
- Avoidance of toxin and allergens
- Appropriate use of supplementary nutrients.
In the consultation your Nutritional Therapist will seek to identify what elements of your diet, lifestyle or other factors may be contributing to your symptoms and ill-health. The initial consultation may take 1 – 1 ˝ hours, during which time a thorough analysis of your current diet and lifestyle is performed. The Nutritional Therapist may then recommend further laboratory tests to determine levels of nutrients, hormones, possible food allergies or intolerances.
Individualized programmes involve diet and lifestyle changes, using foods and specific nutrients as appropriate to help you achieve your optimal health, energy levels and feeling of wellbeing.
